Born from the desire to share a family holiday retreat with friends and guests, Casas da Quinta De Cima is a picturesque boutique hotel that offers the essence of the authentic Algarve, of the usual beach holidays, from the tranquility of a centuries-old agricultural estate which ends in Ria Formosa.

Owned by the same family for five generations, the Casas da Quinta de Cima boutique hotel project was designed with time and dedication, adding value and sustainability to its hundred-year legacy.

This is the result of a hundred-year love affair with the land, in this unspoilt region of the Algarve. Owned by the same family for five generations, Quinta de Cima is a 50-hectare agricultural estate. The Casas da Quinta de Cima boutique hotel project was designed with respect for its century-old legacy, adding a hotel component to emphasise the family’s vision of future sustainability.

1920

Purchase of the Quinta de Cima land by Frederico Ramirez, a prominent political figure in the Algarve and one of the heirs of Sebastian Ramirez - founder of the iconic fish canning company.

1925

Construction of the main house at Quinta de Cima. Once the family's main house, it has during the last 100 year,s become their favourite holiday home.

1945

Construction of the farm estate, including the warehouses and farm workers’ cottages where the hotel's nine suites now stand. The preservation of these spaces and the integration of the boutique hotel into the property were the basis for the conceptual design of Casas da Quinta de Cima.

1954

Quinta de Cima is awarded the prize for the best cereal estate in Portugal. A distinction that we proudly display on the façade of the suite 1.

1959

The estate starts producing its own olive oil with the construction of the olive mill.

1960-70

Quinta de Cima begins producing mainly apricots.

1980

Start of the almond grove at Quinta de Cima, making its landscape even more enchanting in spring.

1990s

In this decade, Quinta de Cima switched to citrus fruits: oranges, lemons, tangerines and grapefruit, which are still the basis of its current production, with around 15,000 trees.

2000

Start of the avocado production. The characteristics of the land and the climate in the Algarve are ideal for producing high quality avocados with a unique flavour.

2020

Work began on converting the farm workers’ cottages into a hotel, fulfilling the family's plan to adapt it for tourism. Designed by the award-winning Portuguese architect, João Pedro Falcão de Campos, the Casas da Quinta de Cima reflect the owning family’s desire to only use the highest quality of materials in this conversion.

2022

The suites at Casas da Quinta receive their first guests on a bed and breakfast basis, while the conversion work on the other areas of the boutique hotel is finalised.

2024

Opening of Casas da Quinta de Cima as a complete boutique hotel, with 9 suites and a private house. The public areas, housed in the estate's old warehouses, include three large lounges divided into a living room, dining room and reception. With large gardens, a swimming pool and several patios, the boutique hotel offers unique conditions for both holidays and private and corporate events. Completion of Villa 11, with three bedrooms and a private pool. Among orange and lemon trees, to the south of the property, it's the ideal space for families or groups of friends.
